Microchip Technology Inc. today announced the MPLAB ™ ICD 4 - Microchip's online programming and debugging development tools for PIC ™ microcontrollers and dsPIC® digital signal controllers. MPLAB ICD 4 includes all the features of the MPLAB ICD 3 debugger, which uses faster processors to increase speed and increase RAM capacity.
MPLAB ICD 4 speed can be significantly improved because it uses a 32-bit MCU running at 300 MHz. Processing faster, but also increased the 2 MB cache, making the product speed is twice the previous generation of products.
The round MPLAB ICD 4 is housed in a durable black case with a brushed aluminum on top and a striking LED light band for indicating the commissioning status. The tool has the following features:
1.2V to 5.5V wider target voltage range
· Optional 1 A power supply (using external power supply)
• Target interface Optional pull-down / drop-down options
· Configurable interface speed, optimized programming and debugging
An intelligent and robust interface with fault detection and anti-jamming capability
· JTAG debugging function
Microchip's MPLAB ICD 4 is easy to use and supports all PIC's PIC microcontrollers and dsPIC digital signal controllers through the MPLAB X Integrated Development Environment (IDE). This simplifies the customer's design process when the customer chooses to migrate from one PIC MCU to another to meet their application requirements.
"Speed and flexibility is the most important factor in selecting debug tools," said Rodger Richey, director of Microchip's development tools. "MPLAB ICD 4 reduces latency and improves debug efficiency accordingly, with its speed, compatibility, Full device support and award-winning MPLAB X IDE, MPLAB ICD 4 once again consolidated Microchip's reputation as a leading provider of embedded debugging tools.
